Trust the Process: An Analysis of the Impact of NPQICL on the Universities Contracted to Deliver the Programme during the First Year of the National Rollout
Webster, Sue
European Early Childhood Education Research Journal, v16 n1 p67-82 Mar 2008
This article is one of a series of articles to evaluate the National Professional Qualification in Integrated Centre Leadership (NPQICL) during a national rollout in 2005 in England. It explores the experiences of the tutors who delivered the programme. The informants were eight academic tutors who teach in seven universities and four tutors who were NPQICL graduates recruited to deliver NPQICL in seven of the fifteen learning communities in England. The article examines the tutors' experiences and considers whether delivering NPQICL influenced their behaviour as adult educators. It also analyses the potential impact of the NPQICL programme on wider university climate and culture. The article concludes that the NPQICL programme had a significant impact on the tutors, who have taken their new learning into their teaching and leadership practice within their universities. The article offers an analysis to inform the recruitment of NPQICL tutors in the future. (Contains 1 figure.)
