Modifying Physical Activities to Include Individuals with Disabilities: A Systematic Approach
Menear, Kristi S.; Davis, Tim
Journal of Physical Education, Recreation & Dance (JOPERD), v78 n2 p37-41 Feb 2007
Effectively including individuals with disabilities in a physical activity setting can often be a challenge due to constraints related to equipment, class size, curriculum, and the various ability levels of individuals with and without disabilities. However, there are ways the instructor can control the environment and tasks to meet the needs of all the participants in an activity. A systematic approach, consisting of modifying physical activities to include individuals with disabilities, can help instructors to achieve this goal. (Contains 2 tables and 2 figures.)
