Yoga for Exceptional Parents
Kuhn, Jackie
Exceptional Parent, v38 n4 p40-41 Apr 2008
In this article, the author shares how Yoga can help make life easier for parents. The author started practicing with a Hatha Yoga teacher once a week at the local church community center. The breath (Pranayama) leads to self-discovery, Yoga poses (asanas) lead to quieting of the mind and self-connection. That was seven years ago, and since then, Yoga has been a powerful force in her life. Yoga is truly a journey that has brought her many wonderful things including "inner peace" in a complex world. Furthermore, she states that once parents have incorporated the tools of Yoga into their lives, they can share that gift with their children. With a calm and steady mind, a parent can serve as a model for children. The energy one emanates with regular Pranayama practice will be healthy and balanced; and, since children are open souls, they will respond positively to these changes in energy.
