Linear System of Equations, Matrix Inversion, and Linear Programming Using MS Excel
El-Gebeily, M.; Yushau, B.
International Journal of Mathematical Education in Science and Technology, v39 n1 p83-94 Jan 2008
In this note, we demonstrate with illustrations two different ways that MS Excel can be used to solve Linear Systems of Equation, Linear Programming Problems, and Matrix Inversion Problems. The advantage of using MS Excel is its availability and transparency (the user is responsible for most of the details of how a problem is solved). Further, we develop a worksheet method that is capable of solving and graphing a linear 2 x 2 system. It is our hope that both teachers and students will find the approaches useful for teaching and learning. (Contains 3 figures.)
