It's a Home Run! Using Mathematical Discourse to Support the Learning of Statistics
Himmelberger, Kathleen S.; Schwartz, Daniel L.
Mathematics Teacher, v101 n4 p250-256 Nov 2007

Examples from a unit on variability show that students gain long-lasting insight into the structure and purpose of statistical formulas. (Contains 2 figures and a sample worksheet.)
