Bridging the Gap: Strategies for Creating Equitable Learning Opportunities
Hall, Don
Learning & Leading with Technology, v33 n7 p15-18 Apr 2006
School districts often struggle on how to close the digital divide. Digital divide represents students' equity in learning opportunity and productive participation in society. Some schools have this mistaken notion that the problem on digital divide could only be solved by merely providing students with more access to technology. However, the problem on digital divide could only be solved by providing equitable learning opportunities for all students. In this article, the author relates how his school district has successfully addressed their problem on digital divide. He then presents an explanation of the strategies employed by his school district to provide equitable learning opportunities for all its students.
