Going Digital
Violino, Bob
Community College Journal, v78 n2 p40-43 Oct-Nov 2007
Looking to save money--and, in many cases, improve stakeholder communication--several community colleges now are producing a variety of formerly paper products electronically. Administrators say the practice is improving efficiencies, providing for the delivery of critical information in a timely manner, and creating more options for students and others to access academic data. Special document management tools, such as electronic scanners, play a critical role in the transition, providing the means by which reams of paper-based documents are converted to digital form. This article describes how three community colleges save money and improve outreach by publishing information on the web.
