To Cecilia: A Pedagogue Who Combined Knowledge, Reflection and Action
Aguerrondo, Ines; Lanza, Hilda Maria
Prospects: Quarterly Review of Comparative Education, v35 n4 p429-438 Dec 2005
In this article, the authors pay tribute to Cecilia Braslavsky, a pedagogue who combined knowledge, reflection, and action. The authors focus on what she considered to be the third stage in her professional career, that is, her time at the Ministry of Education, participating actively in the application of the Federal Education Law passed in 1993. Cecilia divided her professional history into four stages. The first was her term as director of the education area of FLACSO (Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales) [Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences], a post she took up in 1983 in the context of the return to democratic institutions. The second, her process of constructing the History of Education course at the Arts Faculty of the University of Buenos Aires, using her learning and experience in Leipzig, Germany, where she did her doctorate. Her third professional stage was her career at the National Ministry of Education as consultant and as Director of Research and Development. The fourth and last, her work at the IBE UNESCO, in Geneva. All unified by the way she conceived the intellectual's commitment to action. (Contains 7 notes.)
