Transforming How Courses Are Delivered: A Model For Teaching Faculty How to Design Effective Distance Education Courses Using Constructivist Theory
Lockhart, Marilyn; Goodwin, Ian
Journal of Faculty Development, v21 n2 p73-79 May 2007
This article presents an overview and results of a semester long course intended to teach current and aspiring faculty how to teach effective learner-centered web-based courses using a constructivist approach. A model to teach these individuals was developed and it recommends a hybrid format, individual assistance, use of online tools, real life assignments, learners participating as online students and instructors, the analysis of student experiences, and peer reviews.
