Don't Confuse Common Flu with a Flu Pandemic
St. Gerard, Vanessa
Education Digest: Essential Readings Condensed for Quick Review, v72 n5 p4-6 Jan 2007
It is the time of year once again when students and staff members who are going around with coughs, colds, fevers, and sneezes abound in schools everywhere. Although it may seem more immediate to focus on the matter of how the seasonal/common flu will affect a particular school during the course of this school year, the fact of the situation is that principals should actually be setting their sights on the preparation which is necessary in order to combat a flu pandemic that scientists have been predicting is due to occur. In this article, the author discusses the main difference between a flu pandemic and the simple matter of seasonal flu, along with the steps which principals should be taking in order to prevent a flu pandemic from occurring in their schools and community.
