Most, if not all, systems have a mechanism that collects information to facilitate monitoring performance. This information is primarily used to modify the system to make it more efficient in performing desired tasks and, thus, attaining desired results. Similar to electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic systems, the feedback mechanism in an instructional environment functions to modify or reinforce behaviors to more effectively meet instructional goals and objectives. This article discusses the use of computer-aided or computer-assisted design and drafting (CADD) and other information technology in giving students feedback on engineering drawings. It also discusses the advantages of the electronic feedback method over the traditional, hand-written feedback method. (Contains 5 figures.)
