Building Reading Fluency in Elementary Science through Readers' Theatre
Kinniburgh, Leah; Shaw, Edward
Science Activities: Classroom Projects and Curriculum Ideas, v44 n1 p16-20 Spr 2007
Because of difficult academic vocabulary and ambiguous explanations of many concepts, science texts are hard for students to read and understand. To become skilled readers of content material, students need to learn the meanings of the academic science vocabulary. They must also be able to understand the concepts presented in the textbook. Readers' Theatre is a strategy that can assist students with the difficulty of the vocabulary and concepts and help them become fluent readers of science content material. (Contains 2 tables.)
