Three Tools to Get You Organized
Morford, Linda Marrs
Principal Leadership, v5 n5 p24-27 Jan 2005
With the demands of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), the focus of the principal's role is providing instructional leadership in the school. However, one of the first things a school community expects from the principal is that management issues--particularly for special events that occur every year--are successfully administered and organized. This requires principals to be organized and develop policies and procedures that simplify these tasks and allow them more time to address instructional issues. By creating and using three organizational tools--a master calendar, a special events checklist, and an administrative checklist--principals can efficiently plan and organize special events. In this article, the author discusses how these tools can free up time for instructional leadership. (Contains 2 figures.)
