Schrank, Fredrick A.; Miller, Jeffrey A.; Caterino, Linda C.; Desrochers, John
Psychology in the Schools, v43 n7 p771-780 Sep 2006
This article reviews the results of a survey of the Fellows of the American Academy of School Psychology (Academy; AASP) regarding the independent educational evaluation (IEE) for a specific learning disability (SLD). Academy Fellows were asked about important components of the IEE, desirable evaluator qualifications, and recommended criteria for a diagnosis of SLD in an IEE. Survey results are used as the basis for a discussion of (a) what comprises a sufficiently comprehensive IEE, (b) what evaluator qualifications are important, and (c) how a clinical determination of SLD in an IEE is formulated, documented, and evaluated. (Contains 3 tables.)
