Martin-Dunlop, Catherine
Science Scope, v30 n1 p44-47 Sep 2006
A learning environment survey can be easily used in the science classroom to evaluate new instructional approaches, to spark enthusiasm, and to produce evidence showing that science teachers are indeed becoming a reflective practitioner. Conducting learning environment research in the classroom is personally rewarding as well. It allows science teachers to lean on a huge body of well-established research in the learning environments field that is valid and highly reliable. This article describes how science teachers can successfully implement CLEAR (Classroom Learning Environment Action Research) as a strategy for improving their science teaching practice. As a result of conducting Classroom Learning Environment Action Research, science teachers will feel a sense of empowerment, renewed enthusiasm for their profession, and the reward of self-reflection.
