Men's (and Women's) Role in ECE: Perspectives from Our Shared Past
Hewes, Dorothy W.
Exchange: The Early Childhood Leaders' Magazine Since 1978, n162 p53-56 Mar-Apr 2005
Although fathering has become recognized as a vital element in the lives of young children, few men work in preschool classrooms. Early Childhood Education provides some clues about why people still have a sex role division between the "care" of young children and their "education." This article discusses the historical perspective of why there are only a few men working in classrooms of young children. (Contains 3 online resources.)
