Ezrailson, Cathy; Kamon, Teruki; Loving, Cathleen C.; McIntyre, Peter M.
School Science and Mathematics, v106 n7 p278 Nov 2006
In this article, the author discusses the advantages of using the interactive engagement instructional method. A model of interactive engagement (IE) instructional method involves questioning students by challenging them to think deeply about a problem or complex question. Essential to this process is frequent and thoughtful interaction with the instructor. Several decades of research into instruction using interactive engagement suggests that involving students in an active way will enhance the quality and longevity of learning. (Contains 2 figures.)
