Administrative Visibility and Its Effect on Classroom Behavior
Keesor, Carolyn A.
NASSP Bulletin, v89 n643 p64-73 2005
A study was conducted on a junior high school campus in the Midwest to evaluate the influence an assistant principal can have on classroom instruction. The study included 489 ninth-grade students and was conducted over an 18-week period. It examined the effect of assistant principals' visibility on classroom behavior. The results indicate that an increased level of assistant principal visibility resulted in a decrease in student disciplinary referrals. A statistical analysis of the data was performed and the results were significant.
