Pioneers--The "Engineering byDesign[TM]" Network
Burke, Barry N.
Technology Teacher, v66 n2 p25-30 Oct 2006
This article discusses the standards-based instruction model, Engineering byDesign[TM] (EbD), and a network of teachers called the Engineering byDesign[TM] Network. Engineering byDesign[TM] is the only standards-based national model for Grades K-12 that delivers technological literacy which was developed by the International Technology Education Association's Center to Advance the Teaching of Technology and Science (ITEA-CATTS). On the other hand, the goals of the EbD[TM] Network include creating consistent instruction--that is, content delivery--across the country. This consistency will enable research-based practices to be implemented and model programs to be established. The goals of Engineering byDesign[TM] are presented in this article. In addition, the members and the functions of the EbD[TM] Network are also detailed.
