Fueled by news media, the perception of a "boy crisis" has been embraced by those seeking to advance various education agendas. According to the report, trends in National Assessment of Educational Progress scores show that "with few exceptions, American boys are scoring higher and achieving more than they ever have before." The report recommends that rather than focusing on the overall "boy crisis," education policymakers should pay attention to the gaps among students of different races and classes. The report also offers several recommendations for policymakers, educators, and parents on their appropriate response to the current concerns about the "boy crisis."
