Commentary on "The 50th Anniversary of the Thayer Conference: Historical Perspectives and Accomplishments"
Semrud-Clikeman, Margaret
School Psychology Quarterly, v20 n3 p256-263 Fall 2005
Having reaped the benefits of the Thayer Conference in my school psychology career, it is a pleasure to provide a comment about Dr. Fagan's article. I began my career as a master's-level school psychologist in the state of Wisconsin just prior to the passage of 94-142, now called IDEA. I am now a trainer of school psychologists at the doctoral level. Given this history, I have seen the field from both points of view as well as experienced the trials and tribulations of a school psychologist first hand. I have also had the privilege to watch the changes in our field in the scope of the role and function of the school psychologist as well as to view the struggles between the two levels of school psychologists: master's or specialist level and doctoral level.
