Group Time: Calming Children at Group Time
Church, Ellen Booth
Early Childhood Today, v19 n1 p45-46 Sep 2004
The shift at the beginning of the year from the summer at home to the fall at school can be both an exciting and an anxious time for young children. Often, there is a fine line between the two emotions, with one considered positive and other negative. Awareness of how to manage these feelings in a teacher's group is essential to creating the right climate for a year of joyful activities together. In this article, the author provides several strategies on teaching children simple techniques for calming and centering themselves. (Contains 5 resources.)
