Hannum,James W.; Dvorak,Dawn M.
Journal of College Student Development, v45 n1 p27-42 Jan-Feb 2004
Ninety-five freshmen completed measures of attachment, family conflict, family structure, psychological distress, and social adjustment. Attachment to mother predicted less psychological distress and attachment to father and structure predicted better social adjustment. Conflict reduced attachment and predicted psychological distress. Attachment to mother mediated the relationship between conflict and psychological distress.
