Choosing Documentaries that Make a Difference
Wilson, Robert D.
Teacher Librarian, v31 n5 p50 Jun 2004
Students pay attention to videos that will help them in life and enable them to get better grades. When watching documentaries, they want relevance versus canned presentations with actors. So do you, for that matter. Because many students go home to a steady diet of television, rock videos, video games and box office movies--all of them well--made and visually appealing--so it is imperative to select media that is first rate. If not, many students will "zone out." This article provides a list and brief summaries of videos that may help students get better grades and grab their attention to boot.
