Duggan, Diane; Dawson, Carol A.
Reclaiming Children and Youth: The Journal of Strength-based Interventions, v13 n1 p37 Spr 2004
How does the nation's largest urban public school district address the complex behavior management requirements of its special education students? This article reviews the positive behavior support system in the New York City schools. It delineates the major components of an urban special education public school district's positive behavior support system. The article also discusses the infusion of Life Space Crisis Intervention (LSCI) into the components of this system. It concludes that together, these components make up a unified, comprehensive approach for working with students who have severely challenging behaviors.
