Connecting Oral and Written Language Through Applied Writing Strategies
Brice, Roanne G.
Intervention in School and Clinic, v40 n1 p38-47 Sep 2004
Written language requires prior knowledge of many foundation language skills. Students with language learning disabilities find it difficult to integrate language skills into academic writing assignments. Exceptional educators can teach foundation writing skills through certain underlying components of language, that is, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. The purpose of this article is to provide teachers with knowledge of oral and written strategies to improve students' written literacy abilities.
