A School Practitioner's Response to the Discussion of the Learning Outcomes Theme Group
Threadgold, Margaret
Curriculum Journal, v16 n1 p97-99 Mar 2005
From the outset, the Teaching and Learning Research Programme gave significant importance to the meaningful involvement of users, who were expected not only to be trialling the outcomes of the research but also, more importantly, to be consulted in the process of formulating the project proposals and in the research process itself. This level of engagement, while bringing with it some practical problems relating to the time and funding available to facilitate this, clearly is enabling the research process and its associated findings to have a significant impact upon those individuals and institutions involved. Such participation can engender not only enthusiasm and commitment to the project itself but also a sense of responsibility for sharing outcomes more widely. One challenge for the project and programme leaders now is to ensure that findings continue to reach the wider professional audience which, in its turn, will be expected to respond.
