Human resource development students in online courses (n=45) completed the Instructional Material Motivation Survey and Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire. Course relevance was the strongest motivator, followed by material that arouses curiosity, encourages frequent instructor feedback, facilitates completion, and supports the belief that learning the content is important.
