Student Burnout as a Function of Personality, Social Support, and Workload.
Jacobs, Sheri R.; Dodd, David K.
Journal of College Student Development, v44 n3 p291-303 May-Jun 2003
Measures of social support, personality, and workload were related to psychological burnout among 149 college students. High levels of burnout were predicted by negative temperament and subjective workload, but actual workload (academic and vocational) had little to do with burnout. Low levels of burnout were predicted by positive temperament, participation in extracurricular activities, and social support, especially from friends. (Contains 38 references and 2 tables.) (GCP)
