Creativity and Mood: Towards a Model of Cognitive Mediation.
Papworth, Mark A.; James, Ian A.
Journal of Creative Behavior, v37 n1 p1-16 1st Qtr 2003
Since highly creative individuals are more likely to experience depression, this article examines the hypothesis that appraisal may be a mediating feature between creativity and affect. Measurement of creativity, cognitive appraisal patterns, and mood in 104 undergraduate art or science students found art students were more creative, experienced lower mood, and displayed greater distortion and bias in their appraisals.
