Looking Again at Insider Knowledge: A Relational Approach to Knowledge Production and Assessment.
Gitlin, Andrew; Peck, Marcia; Aposhian, Natalie; Hadley, Shane; Porter, Annie
Journal of Teacher Education, v53 n4 p303-15 Sep-Oct 2002
Challenges historical power relations, which have valued academic knowledge over teachers' experiential knowledge, asserting that such experiential knowledge should be considered legitimate; noting the need to assess knowledge produced by teachers and academics and offer apparatus for conducting such assessments; and recommending that by incorporating insider and outsider knowledge into teacher research reports, a relational type of assessment can occur in which both types of knowledge forms are scrutinized.
