Trends in Cigarette Smoking among High School Students: United States, 1991-2001.
Journal of School Health, v72 n6 p226-28 Aug 2002
Examined Youth Risk Behavior Survey data to investigate changes in cigarette smoking among white, black, and Hispanic high school students from 1991-01. Overall, the prevalence of lifetime smoking decreased significantly. The prevalence of current smoking increased, then decreased. For females, the prevalence of current smoking peaked during 1997-99, then declined by 2001. During 2001, white and Hispanic students were significantly more likely than black students to report current smoking. (SM)
