The Relationship between Employee Initiatives and Occupational Expertise throughout the Career in Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises in the Netherlands.
van der Heijden, Beatrice I. J. M.
Career Development International, v7 n6 p322-38 2002
Occupational expertise of Dutch employees in early (n=73), mid (n=106), and late (n=54) career stages in small/medium-sized businesses was examined in relationship to three variables: participation in social networks, participation in training, and career initiatives. Network participation increased with age. Early- and late-career workers participated more in training. All three variables contributed to occupational knowledge. (Contains 51 references.) (SK)
