Parent and Adolescent Gender Role Attitudes in 1990s Great Britain.
Burt, Keith B.; Scott, Jacqueline
Sex Roles: A Journal of Research, v46 n7-8 p239-45 Apr 2002
Used data from the British Household Panel Survey to examine relationships between early- and mid-adolescents' gender role attitudes and the attitudes of their parents. Overall, adolescents' attitudes were consistently more nontraditional than were their parent's attitudes. Adolescent girls' attitudes were markedly more nontraditional than those of all other family members. Adolescent attitudes resembled those of the same-gender parent. (SM)
