Discusses how composition teachers can obtain a better understanding of the challenges facing English-as-a-second-language students by writing in their own second language and reflecting on the experience. Notes that by reflecting on these writing experiences, composition instructors can evaluate how they themselves write other languages and develop more realistic expectations about improving student writing.
