Investigated the effects of teacher gender, student gender, and classroom subject (mathematics or English) on teacher-student interactions. Observations of high school students and teachers indicated that female mathematics teachers and male and female English teachers tended to interact somewhat more with male students. This was not the result of male students having initiated more direct verbal interactions with teachers. (SM)
