Immigration and the Structure of Demand: Do Immigrants Alter the Labor Market Composition of U.S. Cities?
Linton, April
International Migration Review, v36 n1 p58-80 Spr 2002
Explores the relationship between immigration and labor market demand in metropolitan areas using information about the occupational distribution of recent immigrants and natives to analyze circumstances under which the two groups compete with or complement each other. Overall, many immigrants fill occupational niches that would not exist in their absence. This is contingent upon city size and immigrants' educational levels. (SM)
