Successful Aging among the Young-Old, Old-Old, and Oldest-Old Chinese.
Chou, Kee-Lee; Chi, Iris
International Journal of Aging and Human Development, v54 n1 p1-14 2002
Examines successful aging among Hong Kong Chinese old people (N=1,106) in three different cohorts (young-old, old-old, oldest-old). Modest associations were found between four dimensions of successful aging (physical, emotional, cognitive, productive involvement). Characteristics associated with successful aging include age, gender, education, number of close relatives, frequency of contact with friends, finances, chronic illnesses, self-rated health, and life satisfaction.
