Linking School Assessments to Research-based Practices in Beginning Reading: Improving Programs and Outcomes for Students with and without Disabilities.
Baker, Scott; Smith, Sylvia
Teacher Education and Special Education, v24 n4 p315-32 Fall 2001
This paper describes how individual elementary schools can bridge the gap between research and practice in their beginning reading programs. Review of research based programs, instructional strategies, and school-based assessment is followed by reports of how two schools organized and used early reading assessment data to show reading growth, evaluate early intervention efforts, and develop professional development activities.
