Coping, Burnout, and Emotion in Staff Working in Community Services for People with Challenging Behaviors.
Mitchell, Georgia; Hastings, Richard P.
American Journal on Mental Retardation, v106 n5 p448-59 Sep 2001
Direct care staff (n=83) from five community services serving individuals with mental retardation completed a questionnaire on their emotional reactions to aggression, coping strategies, and burnout. Staff more frequently reported using adaptive strategies than maladaptive ones. Staff disengagement, adaptive coping strategies, and their emotional reactions to aggression predicted burnout scores.
