Motivational Aspects of Reading and Its Measurement in Community College Students.
Crane, Laura R.; Gustafson, Jean-Louise; Poziemski, Christine
Journal of Applied Research in the Community College, v7 n2 p87-99 Spr 2000
Discusses a survey of more than 2,000 students from remedial and college-level reading and English classes that measured three key areas: self-concept, value, and reading strategies. Finds that: (1) developmental students were lacking in reading self-concept and valued reading less; (2) first-time students valued reading less than experienced students; and (2) females had significantly higher scores than males. (Contains eight tables and 21 references.) (NB)
