The Influence of Extra-Curricular Activities and Peer Influence on Substance Use.
Borden, Lynne M.; Donnermeyer, Joseph F.; Scheer, Scott D.
Adolescent & Family Health, v2 n1 p12-19 Spr 2001
Investigated the relationship between participation in school and non-school based extracurricular activities and peer influence on adolescent substance use. Surveys of 3,189 11th graders from 33 midwestern high schools indicated that while school and non-school based extracurricular activities significantly influenced substance use, peer influence was much more significant in explaining variance in substance use.
