Mercier, Celine; Mottron, Laurent; Belleville, Sylvie
Autism: The International Journal of Research and Practice, v4 n4 p406-25 Dec 2000
Interviews about their lives were conducted with six high-functioning adults with pervasive developmental disorder and their parents and/or siblings. Restricted interests played a significant role and provided a sense of well-being, however, following demands from their environment and social pressure, participants involved themselves in a process to adapt, reduce or diversity their restricted interests.
