Effects of Peer Victimization in Schools and Perceived Social Support on Adolescent Well-Being.
Rigby, Ken
Journal of Adolescence, v23 n1 p57-68 Feb 2000
In order to determine whether the mental health of school children is adversely affected by bullying and inadequate social support, the General Health Questionnaire was administered to students (N=845) attending coeducational secondary schools in South Australia. Analysis indicated that for both sexes, frequent peer victimization and low social support contributed significantly and independently to relatively poor mental health. (Author/JDM)
