Interpersonal Violence and Posttraumatic Symptomatology: The Effects of Ethnicity, Gender, and Exposure to Violent Events.
McGruder-Johnson, Anita K.; Davidson, Emily S.; Gleaves, David H.; Stock, Wendy; Finch, John F.
Journal of Interpersonal Violence, v15 n2 p205-21 Feb 2000
Investigates the effect of lifetime exposure to interpersonal violence and current levels of psychological distress among African American, Mexican American, and European American undergraduate students (N=222). Analysis suggests that the degree of exposure to life-threatening events explained most of the ethnic and gender differences found in terms of posttraumatic symptomatology. (Author/JDM)
