A Knowledge Object and Mental Model Approach to a Physics Lesson.
Merrill, M. David
Educational Technology, v41 n1 p36-47 Jan-Feb 2001
This instructional design looks at momentum in physics through railroading, to assist students in developing appropriate mental models that will enable them to solve problems relevant to the process or principle being taught. A PEAnet (process, entity, activity network) relationship enables an instructional visualization (simulation) in which students can manipulate components of the knowledge object in a way that enables them to acquire the cognitive processes to make predictions.
