Provides an overview of the status of indigenous people in the Australian educational system with a cohort analysis of changes in educational participation and the level and type of educational qualification over the last three censuses for indigenous and nonindigenous populations. Although there have been some absolute improvements in indigenous educational outcomes, there has been little or no progress relative to nonindigenous peoples. (SLD)
