Autobiographical Stories from Preservice Elementary Mathematics and Science Students: Implications for K-16 Teaching.
Ellsworth, Judith Z.; Buss, Alan
School Science and Mathematics, v100 n7 p355-64 Nov 2000
Autobiographies are effective tools for assessing students' predispositions toward science and mathematics content. Analyzes autobiographies of students (N=98) in elementary education methods classes to determine the kinds of K-12 and college content course experiences that affect their perceptions of mathematics or science. Reveals that attitudes were generally more positive than expected and indicates five major emergent themes. (Contains 29 references.) (Author/ASK)
