Explores the view that epistemological issues are central to developing a gender-critical initial teacher education, highlighting current government conceptualizations and the associated assessment practices in England and Wales that are predicated on a technicist model of teaching; critiquing this model; offering an alternative involving self-reflection and a dialogic curriculum; and making suggestions for revising practice.
