An Observational Study: Examining the Relevance of Developmentally Appropriate Practices, Classroom Adaptations, and Parental Participation in the Context of an Integrated Preschool Program.
Brown, Mark S.; Bergen, Doris; House, Marcia; Hittle, Jane; Dickerson, Tina
Early Childhood Education Journal, v28 n1 p51-56 Fall 2000
Examined developmentally appropriate practices in learning centers in an integrated preschool classroom, noting how special education teachers made adaptations for their special needs children, and explored the role of parents. Found that special needs children developed their own voice in learning centers and self-regulatory behaviors through interactions with typical peers and with adults. Learning center adaptations benefited all students. (Author/KB)
